Short term European Breakdown cover
Hi, as we look forward to our first trip abroad towing I'm considering which would be the best value breakdown cover for car and caravan whilst away for two weeks. My current UK breakdown company (AA - provided by my bank) have quoted ~£85 for their premium
cover which includes repatriation should the worst happen.
Is this good value or are their other recommendations out there?

I would recommend Britannia but as you already have UK cover it's probably not appropriate for you as it is both UK and the rest of EU.
I have had overseas cover in the past by Quoteline Direct which was reasonably cheap for a one-off but have no experience of their service.

Caravan club Red pennant for us every time. Personal and motoring rather pay more for peace of mind.had to use them once when our car broke down and couldn't be repaired got replacement car and ours was towed to our home.

Hi, thanks for all your useful posts so far. Just to clarify, I'm not after the inclusion of medical insurance as this is provided by my worldwide travel insurance (via my bank). I also have domestic caravan insurance and AA breakdown cover (includes the
caravan) so it's just really for a two week trip as we won't be going abroad again this year. Does Red Penant cover short breaks abroad? Of course, the AA said they were the most comprehensive breakdown insurer in the land for trips abroad.0 -
Sorry not been about today. Thanks Dave for putting on my link. The beauty of ADAC it covers you for a year in Europe including the UK. Not only that ADAC covers you anywhere in the UK including Home Start. We have been members for 10 years and have used
it 4 times for caravan in France, car in Germany and Austria and two weeks ago for the caravan at home ready for the off to the Cotswolds when one of our wheels on the front axle seized. I rang Munich who organised the AA and all done and dusted In no time.DianneT

It looks like I may not need additional European breakdown cover as my FreeLander 2 is already covered in Europe with Land Rover Assist as it's under 3 years old. I believe they have a good reputation - has anyone else needed to use their services abroad?

Thanks for the advice. When Land Rover Assist asked if I had a trailer or caravan they said they didn't cover the caravan in the event of a breakdown (i.e. puncture etc) but they would tow it home or to my onward destination. I have changed the trye before
due to a puncture so am happy to do this again if bad luck strikes again.0
