Where is the best place to stow an awning

I am new to this game and have a Bailey Unicorn Valencia caravan and tow it with a Landrover, so no weight issues. My question is this. Where is the best place to stow my awning. Is it in the caravan in the normal over axle position to gain increased stability
or in the car to gain added kerb weight. I have read so many differing reports. What do you guys think? Advice please.
