Motorway tolls, Spain and Portugal.
I know that discussions on tolls crop up from time to time and I also realise that Motorhome tolls can be much more than for caravans. But I would like to say (mainly for the the benefit of anyone new to continental touring) that I pay up with a smile and enjoy, in the main, having my own private motorway.
In the last couple of years we have dragged our caravan around a lot of continental Europe and have found that on toll paying motorways we have felt relaxed and SAFE.
We've just returned fron 6 weeks in Spain and Portugal and I expect that in due course my wife will tell me that we have spent well in excess of £100 in tolls. We never stopped once on a motorway, the only time other traffic was an issue was when I had to decide to overtake a slightly slower lorry - as there was rarely anything coming up behind us it wasn't a big issue.
Competing with the traffic on the drive home from Portsmouth to South Cheshire really made us realise how wonderful it was to drive on the Iberian motorways.
(Small caveat - some of Portugal's motorway surfaces are somewhat wavy).
