Travelling through Outer Hebrides in late June
We will be taking our Motorhome to Skye, Lewis, Harris, N/S Uist and Barra in late June early July and would welcome some advice on how long to spend on each Island. We would also welcome any advice on the ferry crossings between each Island, e.g how crowded
they get- need to book etc at that time of year. At the moment we have around 14 days to distribute across the Islands and would really appreciate some guidance

Having been to all those Islands, May I suggest that 2 weeks does not allow enough time to tour those islands properly. June is a good time to tour the Hebrides.
It is a wonderful area with spectacular scenery , friendly laid back residents and historical sites a plenty.
Whatever you decide, Have a great holiday.

I agree with K. 2 weeks is not long for such a beautiful area. We went for 4 weeks in 2007 in our campervan. Then, and it may be different now, we bought a Calmac "rover" ticket which which allowed us to use the ferry from the mainland and back and also
the relevant inter island ferries. We pre-booked the ferry from Oban to Castlebay and also the return from Stornaway to the mainland. If you need to change the return date it can easily be done by a phone call. We did not book the inter island ferries but
just turned up and drove on. Never a problem. This gives more flexibility to your tour.I would say that our month on the islands was the best trip ever in our campervan so I am sure you will love it there.
Do bear in mind that we went in 2007 so things may have changed. Check the ferry arrangements with Calmac.

www.calmac.co.uk is the site to use for all the travel details and route ideas. Two weeks will be fine for a taste of the isles, just remember the pace of life is slower, have a good time.
