Who else survived the Cornish gales?

We have been staying for the past week at our favourite site in Cornwall, on the Roseland peninsula, and have had to cope with all the gale force winds - 40 mph with 50+mph gusts - and managed to survive.

We had erected the awning, but with careful reference to the 3 hourly forecasts for the local area, was able to position the car as a mobile windbreak, and also use a good beach windbreak hammered well into the ground.

Rather scarily I don't even have a hold down strap and large anchor pegs, but will be getting a set on return home after this trip.

I can report that the caravan and awning survived unscathed, if possibly slightly more stretched (the awning, not the caravan!)

I also noticed - again slightly scarily - that by checking the blocks under the steadies, and the chocks, that the caravan had moved about an inch sideways through the 24 hour period of seriopusly high wind!
