Taking my dog(s)

I am suffering from too much information 

I wish to take one of my dogs with me next time I go to France. It gets lonely on my own sometimes.

He has his passport, all his innoculations are up to date, what do I do next?

I normally travel by eurotunnel and am told he needs to see a vet before coming home. Where?

Sorry, it sounds simple, probably is, but I am now miss confused of sussex.
