As I said up thread we had a Kia Sedona towing a Lunar Lexon 7.4m caravan, we had a tailgate bike rack with 2 full sized ebikes (batteries off) bikes weighed 36kg. We had no problems with weight at all, we then moved to an Smax and had to change to a towball bike rack, same bikes same caravan, again no problems, but then we don't carry a load of cr@p around in the van. Smile

The latter!!  All great advice. I did search for the carabike thing but nothing popped up.

So, after a great deal of thought and consideration, I have come to a decision so I'm going to purchase a.... Oh hang-on, my wife is calling.....

We have a Bailey Pegasus GT65. it's 3 years old. I contacted Bailey about fitting a rear carrier and they said that the rear panels of the range were not strong enough to carry the weight. Serious omission now I think with the popularity of bikes.

Or more likely a very astute corporate decision, the more so with the trend to electric bikes?

...or make them strong enough to carry electric bikes?Happy

id be wondering what my van was (or, more to the point, wasnt) made of, if the manufacturer told me the rear wall wouldnt support a rack and two bikes....

    papier mache comes to mindSad

surely its not beyond modern (strong, light, i think the advertising strapline goes...) manufacturing methods to at least provide some options for customers with a couple of (composite) battens to add strength and support.

    pretty pathetic response, id say.
