Germany-Austria border.

We are heading for Croatia in April and stopping en route for a few days around Salzburg. Under normal circumstances we would have used Dianne's recommended site at Winkl-Landthal,(ACSI 843) which is in Germany. Does anyone have any recent experience of
crossing the border here. I understand there are queues from Austria into Germany as a result of the refugee crisis. If there are, then we might be as well pitching somewhere on the Austrian side. Any recommendations for sites with easy access to Salzburg?

Thanks David.  Another useful looking site.

Your tale of the queue at the border is what we are sort of expecting, which would make day tripping into Salzburg from the wrong side a bit of a chore.

Thanks for the tip about the Salzburg card. I know how useful these can be having made full use of the Berlin equivalent

We were on a recent skiing trip driving from Munich into Austria, Innsbruck, Brenner pass into Italy.  There were no probems in that direction.  However, on the return leg there were long queues from Austria into Germany.  I have been informed these queues
only exist on the motorway and not A roards, which are not monitored by the border control
