To book or not to book

My wife and I wish to stay at Le Chene Gris campsite in France, (55 km away from Paris), on 1st and 2nd September. The site accepts camping cheques from 1st September until 5th November, when they close for the season. The cost of our two night stay would
be approx £30, payable in September, but we cannot book a pitch with them if we wish to pay by this method. If we book via their website the cost for two nights would be €70, which includes a booking fee of €20, all of which is payable in advance. Has anyone
any personal experience of this site and in particular would you recommend booking or just "turn up" on 1st September? We prefer to have some degree of certainty when travelling but the difference in price in this case is quite considerable. Any helpful suggestions
would be appreciated.
