Drive around Paris

We travel with our caravan to the Dordogne every year, and normally for the first leg of the journey, drive from Calais to Blois. We drive via Rouen, Chartres and Dreux, thereby avoiding Paris. However, I thought I may this year try the journey through
Paris, on the A1, A3, and A6. Does anyone have a view on whether this route is quicker, and whether the traffic is as horrendous as I have heard rumoured? we will be travelling at the beginning of July.
