Drive around Paris

"We travel to the Dordogne every year, and normally our journey includes a drive from Calais to Blois via Rouen, Chartres and Dreux. However, I thought I may this year try a change and drive straight down the A1, A3, and A6. Does anyyone have a view on whether
this route is quicker than my customary one, and is the traffic as bad as I have been led to believe?  We will be travelling down early June.
