Engines running

Having spent many mornings on club sites, it seems that many members, mostly with caravans, run their engines whilst loading the van for a considerable length of time Whilst doing this invariably no one is at the wheel in charge of the vehicle.

Is there a logical reason for this ? Or do people having had their relaxing break away want to spoil the air quality and peace other members.
