European Escorted tour -Dog Tour

Hello

We have had quite a few enquiries about taking dogs on Escorted European tours, so we are looking into the possibility of running a dog friendly tour next year.



Would you be interested in such a tour?



If you are then we would like to you to share your thoughts on this with us. What support/facilities would you need for your dog whilst you are out on one of the tours day visits? Would you prefer half day visits? And what destinations would you be interested
in visiting?

    Hi Kay, I wouldn't use a tour. I am a dog owner as well but I was wondering how would potential tour participants feel about going on a tour when everyone had a dog or dogs. It wouldn't be my ideal to share a holiday with a lot of dogs. Perhaps it would be more appealing if only small numbers were involved or if your normal tours were open to dog owners and they were advised what the restrictions were if they came along?

    Tour group with two dozen dogs arrives - queue to pay and leave forms quickly at reception.  I will race you there, David.

    The above posts are correct, in that whilst such a tour may seem a good idea for dog owners, it would be a nightmare for the majority of people who won't like a 'doggy tour' turning up.  However, it's possible that it could be run very early in the season,
    when few other people are around, but I'd like a proviso that if a site is going to be used that the owner/manager would let other potential guests know at the time of booking in.

    Our peace, on a site in the Ardeche, was spoilt when a Dutch rally of twenty caravans arrived.  Fair enough, they didn't pitch all together, but they were born again  Christians and their 'gatherings' were held on the pitch just across from us.

    Needless to say we moved!  However, if it was a Caravan Club 'booked site' then it's likely that others will have booked too, and believe me, they won't be happy!

    I hope you're prepared for the negative comments, as well as the positive ones.

    being a dog owner ,it's not something I would go for , I am very aware that not everyone is receptive to dogs ( which is fine) so we try to find  quiet  corners to pitch .....

    If the vans are scattered across the site and recognition is given to other campers who may not be receptive to dogs then It may work. We have only once experienced a problem abroad from a neighbouring caravanner on a site in Bavaria who clearly objected
    to our dog and they got a heck of a shock when my German wife let rip in response in fluent native German. However I don't get this need some have to only venture into the unknown with the security of a group of fellow caravanners/country people. An escorted
    tour with or without my dog = my idea of hell. I am on holiday abroad for adventure and to escape my fellow countrymen For a couple of weeks otherwise I might as well go to Blackpool.

    Our dog Floss said we must be mad to think of taking her and her mate Alfie on a "dogs dinner" of a trip. Also the cost is so high, as we go for two months, for less than the price of some of these trips!!!!

    I think it would be quite intimidating to other people on site, to have an influx of caravans/MHs complete with dogs.  I don't think the idea of scattering those units around a site would work though, presumably one of the reasons people go on escorted tours
    is to be sited together on the sites they stay on.
