Insurance for E-bikes in Spain

Having just received my monthly HYMER Club International monthly magazine for December one of the letters caught my eye. It seems that a Spanish local news paper contained the following: "according to the traffic department, any and all vehicles on the road
that are powered in any way other than man power (pedalling) are subject to the general road circulation laws that require insurance and vehicle identification documents. If you have a bicycle with any type of motor fitted to it, you are urged to seek the
necessary circulation permission and obtain or run the risk of getting a ticket."

Current fines are €1500 for no insurance and €500 for no identity documents. The persons who wrote the letter obtained a local Spanish company insurance for €27 and wrote to the bike company for a Certificate of Conformity. It seems insurance can be obtained
in UK for £25 (third party liability).

Anyone out there any other comments on the subject matter?
