Status Omni-directional TV Ariel

I've got a Status omni-directional ariel fitted on my Elddis Autoquest 100. Reception really is a hit and a miss. Would I see a big improvment with a Directional ariel? How difficult would it be to replace the current one? Anyone know places in the Glasgow
area that could do it?
