Transferring Sky programs to take away

Hi All,

I have a simple problem that I am sure is the same as many of you!

At home I have a sky +HD system which I use to record my favourite shows.   If I am away for a while I like to take some of those shows with me.

To date what I have been doing is recording from the sky onto DVD and then taking the DVD's away with me.  DVD's are however clumsy, and has anyone tried buying just a simple DVD recorder these days?

What I am looking for is to record from my sky box to a USB device which I can then simply connect to my TV in the van, either via the USB socket on the TV or using some sort of portable media player that connects via HDMI.

I am computer literate, and I know that you can connect a video capture card to your PC then record to that, then copy from there to an idevice, but to be honest its such a faff I may as well just watch the programme straight off.

What I am looking for is a really simple solution.  Where I can connect the sky to a "box" transfer the programmes and then take the box away with me to plug into my TV in the van - oh an I dont want it to require 240v when working with the TV.

Anyone any suggestions?
