Travel to Austria

Hi has anyone travelled to through German, to Austia, late September/early October? We have had to put back our holiday due to major caravan problems. We had planned a walking holiday in the mountains and wondered if anyone else had done this at this time
of year. Not sure what kind of weather we can expect. Thanks
