Caravanning with an autistic child

I thought I would start this thread after having a chat with another member of CT. I wonder how many of us have taken our autistic children away and found the experience either life changing or challenging. Our boy is now 15 and has got to the point where
he is happier staying with family - and yet he found the security of the caravan a real boon over a number of years of holidaying both in the UK and in France. It would be great to hear the experiences past or present of anyone in a similar situation.
