Leaving cushions in the van

Just preparing our van for its annual trip to the farm where we keep it over winter and for, I guess, the 30th time or so I have been lugging the van cushions up to the loft which of course is dry and damp free. Do I need to do this? If I leave them in
the van will I get damp, mould or insects in them?
