Crossing Germany
Hi
We're contemplating our first continental trip with Austria currently being the preferred destination. Coming from Scotland we're looking at the Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry which leaves the small matter of crossing Germany (Frankfurt/Nuremburg/Munich) before
we get there.
There's a couple of options on the table:
1. Blast across as quickly as possible just staying overnight at a motorway service halt (or that network of close to motorway service halts).
2. Take in a nice, close to route, campsite and maybe even spend a couple of days taking in some of what Germany has to offer.
We're traveling with a 3 year old and 4 year old who do have the capacity to watch multiple DVDs but also know the meaning of cabin fever so it would be nice to sample a bit of the German outdoors on the way. Unfortunately, each campsite that I've found
on the web just looks downbeat and dreadful which I think it's down to the web design rather then the places themselves (picure of the toilets on the home page, anyone?) Can anyone offer us any recommendations or advice before we succumb to the ease of a
package tour?
Thanks
Malcolm
