How to bend a caravan jack

Arrived at Hunter's Moon Club site in a hurry to pitch and depart to meet friends.  Upon return realized that the van had a severe side tilt so being clever decided to hitch up the side of the van to put two of my levelling planks under the wheel.  Yes the
handbrake was on etc. etc. but half way through the operation the van moved back a few inches at which point I rapidly lowered it and discovered - a bent jack!  In mitigation, this was only the second time I have jacked a van in 30 years of caravanning.  Of
course I then read the Alko instuctions - keep the van hitched to the car when jacking!  Dumb I know but we can't all be perfect.
