South of France - Minervois Campsite

We use the Caravan Club sites as often as possible but sometimes we cannot find a Caravan Club approved site in the region we want to visit.  Many of the Campsites are based in Coastal/Beach locations in the South of France and after living for 25 years
in South-West Wales with over 20 beautiful beaches within 15 miles, the Mediterranean Beaches just don't compare.  We love to visit the Minervois in the Languedoc region , (sandwiched between the Montagne Noire to the North and the Canal Du Midi in the South),
but have struggled over the past 10 years to find suitable campsites.  This July we were delighted to find the "Domaine Le Vernis" Campsite just outside the beautiful village of Aigne in the Herault.  Domaine Le Vernis had been closed for a number of years
and was bought over in 2012 by the Le Page family from Brittany.  After an enormous amount of work and expense, they opened on the 1st of July and we were privilaged to be one of their first Guests.  Well equipped with a Swimming Pool, Shop, Cafe, newly build
& refurbished toilet/shower blocks and washing facilities, this gem of a site is situated in a beautiful part of France with the GR77, (Hiking route that connects historical Minerve with the Canal Du Midi), passing through the Campsite, and Vineyards, Caves,
Restaurants and Shopping all within walking distance.  Larger towns like Olonzac, Rieux Minervois, Carcassonne and Narbonne are a short drive away.  Well worth a visit.
