OH and pals really enjoyed this site when they went to the Classic Le Mans, it's well away from racing noise but near enough to visit easily. They drove to a local town for supplies but there was a Iocal shop for basics (can't say if this is still open.)
It looked very nice on their photos, would like to see go there myself. The site did some entertaining for race goers and other visitors.0 -
We stayed for a week at this site, although not during the racing. It is a peaceful site and the pitches are nicely spaced out. There is a small shop on site and restaurant, and basic provisions in the nearby village. There was a supermarket on the main
road towards Le Mans and various hyper markets were all on the outskirts of Le Mans as you approach from Chanteloup. We were there early September and found the traffic levels fine, no hold ups in or around Le Mans, but obviously it wil be different during
the race days. Have a great time.0 -
Have done both the race and stayed at Chanteloup but not at the same time.
Did the Le Mans 24 in 2014 and camped in a tent at one of the sites at the race track. Arrived on the friday and the place was already very busy and then left on the Sunday after the race - took 4 hours to get out of the car park ! Seemed most people arrived
on the thursday and left on the Monday.Chanteloup - stayed there last August for two weeks in the caravan and it is a great place (am already booked again for 2016) - I believe they have entertainment over the race weekend but not sure when. There are various pitches, some in the woods, some
with partial shade and some with lots of sunshine. All of them are a good size. Their website is quite good and has a map of all the pitches. Very easy to get to and the only slow bit is on the A28 through Rouen.0 -
Slightly off topic but we stayed there on our way south once. Our stay coincided with the Le Mans 24 hour Roller Skating race and some of those on site were part of the Brit team. We had a great night as the Brits had come 2nd (or was it 3rd) ... it was
a good night. LolYou might notice a slight build up as you go towards Le Mans but it shouldnt stop you doing anything as most stay on or near the track. Not like e.g. Silverstone.
