Greece and Italy

Just returned from 6 week, 5250 mile round trip to Greece. CC Touring Europe book quotes Greek motorway tolls as 'generally quite low'. Not the case! We used the A1 south, unavoidably, and found the charges expensive. You pay for different stretches. One
stretch was about 5km, and cost 5 Euros. And we only have a small campervan!

We had decided to travel down the Italian Adriatic coast road (not the autosrada), thinking we would find some nice Italian towns/villages. Ugh! And most of the laybys, from the North to the South have 'ladies' (for want of a better word!) sitting on their
armchairs waiting for the lorry drivers. Please be aware of this if you are thinking of travelling that way with your family, or are of a delicate disposition!

Greece was lovely. People were lovely, and we had a great time.
