Ssangyong Conundrum!!!

Hello all, my first post here so excuse me if its repeating ongoing topic.  I am looking to replace my mondeo with a 4x4 as I have he'd enough of going cap in hand to 4x4 owners eveytime I get stuck on grass pitches.  It has to be a small one as I passed
my test after1997 and I don't fancy the hefty fuel bills as well.  So I'm looking at either a nearly new korando ( I know, I know ), or a 4/5 year old  crv/xtrail.  The warranty of the ssangyong is really appealing ( as my previous luck with cars is awfull).
Any advice would be gratefully received.  Most caravan reviews are relatively good being in mind the price, but all car magazine reviews really pan it.  Help please...
