Aluminium Awning frames problems, fact or fiction

I have just bought a Bradcot Portico XL plus porch awning. It seemed a good idea at the time as although I wanted an Isabella, they do not manufacture one to fit our new van.

I have by chance found old posts on various websites saying that the Bradcot easy alloy frames will bend in strong windy conditions. 

I would welcome anyone with experience of the easy alloy frame system and its resilience or not to the oft windy conditions we can expect in a normal British summer.
