South of France in late May and early June

We never book but this year we are thinking of stopping for a week or so near Le Lavandou or Cavalaire en route from Avignon to the Italian lakes and I know that this area can get very busy. We have a couple of sites in mind which I know are popular by word of mouth (but not mega-sites in the overseas touring brochures etc.) and am wondering if they are likely to have space when we turn up mid-afternoon?
