Where to go north east France?

In october we plan a short trip (4 days) over to France, so obviously do not want to drive too far. We usually go down the west side, but think we will turn left out of the tunnel for a change. We enjoy walking, nature, small villages or towns, anyone have
any recommendations of campsites or places to go within a maximum 3hr drive. Thanks
