Tornado at Lake Maggiore

A tornado struck Verbania on Saturday night causing millions of pounds of damage and injuries/deaths. The beautiful gardens of the Villa Taranto have been devastated and will be closed for possibly several years. We had planned to visit the gardens again
as it is one of our favourite spots.

This is still one of the most beautiful parts of Europe so don't let this put you off. The other thing to note though is that the lake ferry service has been cut to a skeleton. I wonder about the other lakes? Feeling the effects of the bad economy I guess.
