Motorhome parking for Rome

Hi, 

we are heading off on our first motorhome trip to Europe June 13. travelling through swizerland into Italy. I was planning on staying in a hotel or B and B in Rome 4 nights but where to leave the van safely ? options in a camping ground Florence or Rome
, or in a paid security parking say Florence and train there ? any advice or specific parking locations would be helpful. Vans are great but not when you want to abandon them occasionally. Have not found a good parking app that allows for us oversized folk
