Spacing on CLs
Just got back from holiday and one thing I noticed was van spacing. Having used CLs for the last couple of years we booked onto Kinlochewe for a week and on arrival selected a pitch and decided to place the van across the pitch as it was a large corner pitch.
A few hours later we noticed a camper at the other side of the area we were in speaking to the warden and pointing in our direction. Across came the warden to advise me that vans should now be sited with the offside corner aligned with the white pitch marker.
No problem said I, I will move the van but the warden said not to bother as no-one was next to us on either side or even on our side of the pitching area. I thanked him and said that if anyone did wish to pitch next to us then I would immediately spin the
van around. While I appreciate the H&S issues it was refreshing to see a common sense approach taken by the warden which did not go down to well with the person opposite who was obviously exempt herself from the rules as her dog was never on a lead!! That aside
it got me to thinking about spacing on CLs. I have visited a number of these over the years, even after leaving Kinlochewe, where spacing was a lot less than 6 metres between vans. As the Club "licence" these sites should the spacing be the same ?? Just thought
I would throw this in for discussion.
