First trip to Spain

We are retiring at the end of December and looking to spend a month or so in Spain from end February. We have only once ventured to France and really enjoyed it. I have seen comments that Costa de la Luz is the best area in winter?

My wife is not keen on a ferry trip so advice on travel through France would be appreciated. Also advice on any good sites in the de la Luz area would be appreciated.

We plan on taking our dog with us and that will be a first. From what I've read on this Forum it seems that the de la Luz area have beaches you can walk a dog on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
