Would referendums on major changes be a good idea?

There are lots of threads running on this forum at the moment, where members would like to see some significant changes, as to how the club is run. Some of the issues include being able to specifically book hardstanding or grass pitches,  changes to arrival/departure times, plus other topics that have raised considerable interest and involved sometimes heated debate.

Needless to say the club does need to adapt to changes within the leisure industry, especially in terms of being competitive in a rapidly evolving environment.  Times change and the unfortunately the club must change with them to meet the needs of its membership.  Whilst not impinging upon the everyday operational workings of the club, which in itself must be a mammoth task of logistics, do members think that a referendum on major changes within the club would be a good idea?  A chance for members to have direct input?
