Hi all, I'm just planning our caravanning holidays for next year. Our son will be 2 and 1/2 when we go and wondered if anyone could recommend any sites that they have been to which have good facilities on site and also have enough young child activities
nearby to entertain a very active young boy. We have Martin Mere booked for April which will be great for St Anne's and Blackpool but want another site good for either 1 week or two. We also go to Pooley Brudge in the lakes regularly. Ideally somewhere in
the north but we can travel if something really good available. Thank you in advance for any help. Thank you

If you dont mind travelling to cambridgedeshire I would recommend Ferry Meadows.  It is a great site for children as it is set within a large country park with great play areas for children.,  They have recently upgraded them and we took our 2 grandsons
there during the school holidays (we live nearby) and they loved it.  Lots of space in the country park for ball games as well.  Also the Nene Valley steam railway runs through the park with a station a few minutes walk from the site.  Reductions for CC members
staying at Ferry Meadows if you show your membership card and booking details.

Surely a 21/2 year old doesn't need good "entertainment". What is wrong with a nearby park with swings etc and having a good kick about on a CL with his dad

Thank you for your responses. Much appreciated. Yes we stay at park foot in pooley bridge. We like the parks and outdoor areas and little streams/lakes.

By entertainment I meant soft play centres or swimming baths etc for rainy days which we would want to be prepared for. My little boy is an outdoor child as we have him out as much as possible so rainy days are torture for him. I didn't mean entertainment
like singers or children's acts, he's far too young and not interested in that kind of thing.

Our 2 1/2 year old loves any hard standing pitches with stones he can dig with his little plastic digger & bulldozer. A good ish site we found for him is the Haven at Presthaven in North Wales. It has 2 good warm indoor pools and a soft play , it's also
cheep at the moment at less than £10 a night in the week. The big downside is the touring site is right on the edge of the park and it's quite a distance to the action.

Take a look at Yellowcraig Club Site, not far from Edinburgh, but good road links via A1. A seaside based site, but close to lovely North Berwick which has a nice indoor pool close by, two magical castles on the doorstep, Museum of Flight and Seabird Centre
only 15 minutes drive. Lovely for Mums and Dads as well.Happy

Hi there, I love southport - not so much because of the site - though it's a cracking site, but because there's a park next door which is lovely, it's a great walk to the prom - your 2 1/2 year old would love the prom - got a great pier you can walk down
and FANTASTIC water park indoor and a funfair and cinema- ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE

    Love it

Another recommendation for Ferry Meadows. -- Everything to amuse kids close by and some within walking distance.

Rowntree park in York is another suitable site for families.

I'd also recommend Southport for the park next door which has both a play area and grassed area for ball games etc. There's also a model railway which a little boy might enjoy riding on but I'm not sure when this runs out of season (maybe just weekends).

Might I also suggest Clumber Park as it has a play area but is an easy walk into the NT area with free parking if you show your CC pitch fob.
