Bulgaria & Spain Safety

Morning all Happy

Just had an alert from the GOVUK website regarding road travel in Bulgaria:

There have been reports of car tyres being deliberately punctured across Bulgaria. While investigating the puncture, someone distracts the driver and personal belongings and documents are stolen from the vehicle. Be vigilant if you have to stop in these circumstances and make sure your belongings are secure.

Also received an e-mail from a member staying in Cambrils reporting that gangs of distraction theives are still present and currently targeting Barcelona. He has spoken to a Belgium couple who have recently arrived at the campsite.

Just wanted to post this to make sure members are aware and take sensible precautions. If you leave your vehicle for any reason make sure your valubles are safe.

The reason I have resurrected this subject is because I now receive more e-mails and phone calls from member telling me they "were nearly robbed" than members who had been robbed, so the warnings and the "be vigilant advice" are hopefully working.

I do not post warnings to put people off travelling, and I don't want members to think that people are getting robbed "all the time" but I think it is important that members are made aware that it does happen.

So far this year, I have received one phone call (personal experience) of an attempted robbery near Madrid and the e-mail this morning from a member who has spoken to the couple it happend to.

This is advise for every country - not just Spain and Portugal.
