Television in France - Sky or Freeview

Good afternoon all!

I have recieved the following question from a fellow member:

Dear Sir,please could you advise me.To get UK TV channels in France(as far south as Avignon)which is best, Sky satellite or freeview boxes.

Now, I have not used either, so very difficult for me to advise!! Does anyone have any feedback? Which is the best system to use?
