Bailey Senator Indiana - what to do next?
In June 2011 we bought our first proper van from Pioneer in Eye, Peterborough. A 2006 series 5 Senator Indiana. We were assured that it was a good van who had only had one previous owner, a regular Pioneer customer who traded in regularly after a few years
and the van would 'do' us for many years. As there were 2 years left on the warranty we were also informed we would be reminded to bring in for service.
2012, in for service, all good.
2013, no reminder but a realisation that the date must be due. Book van in before a prebooked break. Call on morning of collection to check all ready. Assured that yes all is fine. Proceed to get ready when mobile goes to say that actually all is not
fine. There is approximately 80% damp detected and it will need new side panels. Can we leave it for service engineer to look at later that week. Oh, and by the way, it's a month and a half outside the warranty period.
Both of us in shock. There is no apparent damp when you're inside the van - it doesn't smell and there is no sqidgy areas, surely at 80% you could tell something? Anyway we had to collect van later in week for our holiday. Pioneer said that they would
contact Bailey to see if they would help as only just outside warranty. We asked why there had been no reminder this year - apparently they changed their computer program and it doesn't do that now. We were given the service report that shows damp readings
up to 99 round bottom of door-side back window and along the top edge.
We had our holiday. I know we are relative newcomers to caravanning but you honestly can't tell it has such issues. On return my husband has been calling trying to get a quote for the work and for the feedback from Bailey. No quote has been forthcoming
- but there is always a promise of ' tomorrow'; they have verbally said only the back panel now needs replacing and told us that Bailey will not help.
We just don't know what to do next. Pioneer are not doing what they say they will - we do wonder if they have actually contacted Bailey. We don't know what this means for our van. Will it be too expensive to repair?
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
