Positioning - Is it just me?

Is it just me?

We have just spent a week on a beautiful CL on the Suffolk/Essex border. That is until yesterday when a newcomer arrived next door. All the pitches are marked, but they decided that they needed to be as close to us as possible and ignored the pitch marker,
(there was plenty of space for him to position himself correctly) Why do people do it? We can now hear every thump and bump in his van and presumably vice versa. Would any other members have said anything?
