Warning.... Italian roads and campsites
Just returned from a 3 week tour of France, Switzerland and Italy and I have a word of advice for anyone thinking of visiting Italy this summer in their motorhome/caravan.......Don't!!
I have found that every single Italian road, from major motorway to smallest dirt track, has a mojor traffic jam on it! This is in fact very fortunate because if you were to travel at more than walking pace your vehicle's tyres and suspension would be soon
ripped to shreds by the potholes, gulleys, crevices and craters which are everywhere.
Once you get to your campsite you will be proudly relieved of 65 euros per night by the campsite manager. You will then be proudly shown to your pitch which will be in the middle of a bedouin encampment and will be roughly the size of a postage stamp. Well
actually the size of half a postage stamp because your German neighbours will have commandeered half of it so they can fit on their 4x4 and 30ft Fendt caravan with awning, awning extension and 3 'pup' tents for their little lovelies!
Can't tell you how overjoyed I was to get back to the quiet roads and spacious campsites of rural France.
