What is going on here ?

I am currently staying of the Rooksbury Park site and am puzzled by the actions of the wardens.

Early in the morning the warden is going round the site putting “Pitch in use” collars around the pegs of some pitches where the member will be leaving the site that day.

Once the pitch is vacant we are watching many members arrive, stop at a pitch they obviously would like, and then driving on thinking the pitch is in use by a motorhome – but it is not!

Later in the day, usually after several disappointed members have stopped and then driven on, someone in a touring caravan will pull straight onto the pitch. This has happened on 5 pitches around me today.

It looks to me as though the wardens are reserving some of the best pitches for members, who do not then have to take pot luck on what pitches are available when they arrive like the rest of us have to – but surely that is against club rules?

I have been a member for about 30 years and I have never seen it happen on a site before. I have seen members trying to reserve pitches for friends, and that is bad enough, but this is being done by the wardens themselves.

Can anyone enlighten me if this is acceptable, because it looks to me at the moment as though some members are being treated as “more equal than others!!!
