suggestions for trip to Gothenburg

We are planning a trip through Germany to Sweden this August -all new territory to us. We have to pass through Kiel which is on the coast to the north east of Hamburg. Can anyone help with a suggested route/sites? Which would be the right road bridges to
cross?
