Calor lite level gauge

just swapped my empty cylinder and found the level guage on the bottle sheared clean off ! Spoke to the supplier who informs me that lots of these cylinders have the level guage broken off as they are only a flimsy plastic device (I agree with this) Does anyone
have any thoughts on this as the dealer tells me that there is no problem with leakes caused by the guage being sheaerd off and having used these cylinders for years I actually find the gauges very ineffective.
