Satnav Madness
We’ve all heard of the stories of satnavs taking people down impassable roads, into rivers etc. We were used to our satnav drawing a straight line across France and trying to take us on every farm track along it but one journey our old satnav tried to
take us on took some beating. We were in Spain and going to the Bilbao ferry port at Santurtzi. I came off the A8 motorway and then realised I had not filled up on cheap Spanish diesel, so went straight back out and filled up. Back on the A8 and about 8km
from our destination, “the navigator” entered the port in our satnav to lead us in. It took an age to calculate and came up with a journey driving distance not of 8km but one of almost 1200km. It wanted to take us north through France to St-Nazaire ( 890km)
to catch the ferry (15 hours, 3 times a week) to Gijon and then the 260km drive back to Santurtzi. Needless to say we ignored it. Have you any true satnav “stories”?
