Dorema wheel arch -What's the point?

I have a second-hand Dorema awning.  It's great.  The only thing is the wheel arch thing.  It is a piece of plastic stuff with two press-stud things on it.  What am I supposed to do with it?  I can't work it out.  Any ideas?
