Money Abroad

Hi, we are going to Spain for a month.  I wondering how people take or access their money while abroad?  Is it better to use ATM's, take travellers cheques, or use a prepaid card?  I'd like to hear your thoughts about the cheapest and safest way to take
money abroad?
