Having only just joined the caravannig fraternity I am going to risk sticking my neck out and criticise caravan design.

I recently bought a caravan for the first time and have been shocked how poor the progress of caravan design / innovation is. I do not know whether this is because  members are happy with what they are 'given' and so designers rest on their laurels or whether designers are just plain lazy.

Some examples of what I mean are as follows:- Why do we not have built in motor movers? Why is there no nose weight gauge? Why is the caravan full of heavy weight chipboard cupboards - Imagine plane storage being made of chipboard? Why do we need levelling blocks rather than a self levelling device?

If things like the above were built in at the manufacturing stage they would be significantly cheaper than all the bolt-ons we have today.

Can you imagine buying a new car and immediately having to go out and buy all the currently fixed accesories and fit them yourselves?
