Why hasn't the club kept members infomed of proposed developmental ideas etc? Could members be informed for example, does the club own the land? How much income will the sale generate? What alternative potential new site in Broadway is being concidered?
Where exactly will this potential money be spent?  I support progression and aknowledge change can be a challenging concept, so perhaps if members were kept FULLY infomed at appropriate times it would be beneficial to all concerned. Could the club post a full
and informative reply in the next magazine etc?

I don't think you can ever expect a commercial organisation, even one that is a club, to keep you fully informed about sensitive business matters. However, a general heads up / overview would have been nice and IMO appropriate.

...i realise it might be difficult for lots of reasons, however, far better, surely, that than a 'posthumous' obituary informing the members that.....

'it is with regret we inform you of the demise of Cadeside, Broadway and Minehead....we realise these were part of the clubs Crown jewels, all within waliking distance of the local town and services but...there you go......'.Sad

Write your comments here...but buy selling and getting more pitches can only be better for the club members, being near a town or village is of no interest to me. If you can sell one site and get two sites in that would be perfection.

I don't use the Broadway site (as I live within easy walking distance of it) but I do use Minehead regularly. If the CC do get rid of it then it will simply mean another CL owner gets the money that the CC would have received. Bet I'm not alone in spending
my money at a CL when the CC could have had it.

All this uncertainty is a poor reflection on how the club views its members.  Time we had an honest answer from them (emphesis on the word honest)

...i dont think the club said they would get two new ones for every one that they sold, did they?

to have another 'replacement' site many miles further away from the town its supposed to service might seem like 'perfection' to you (more money in the bank, a slightly more modern site but in the middle of nowhere....) but it doesnt to me,  Im afraid.....

No the Club did not say that they would get two new sites elsewhere.  They suggested that there would be a bigger and better site close by.  Of course that is unlikely unless the definition of close by is different to mine

Although there was a representation to seek the inclusion of these sites for alternative uses I haven't been able to find a corresponding representation seeking the allocation of a site for touring uses.  An oversight I'm sure
    Undecided

A replacement site in a more remote location would not appeal to me either.  I joined the club primarily for insurance but also because they have (had?) a portfolio of semi urban sites in locations I want to visit.

Could the club not organise a vote or at least a questionairre asking for the members opinions in such matters.  Surely the club is run & paid for by the members so their opinion should be thought more of.  Bigger sites further away from villages or towns
are of no interest to most motorhomers as it is good to arrive on site then explore on foot, not possible if you are 5 or more miles away from the local ammenities, not very good for the local economy either.

Its not just motorhomers who like sites close to towns.  When I had a caravan I preferred to pitch up and then use the car as little as possible.  Going out for a meal without using the car is preferable.  Sites like Broadway are busy because so many members
like to keep their carbon footprint down.

The silence from the CC on this very important issue is deafening.

How can they possibly treat their members (who pay their wages) with such disdain?

Does anybody know the name of the person who is ultimately responsible for the overseeing of UK Sites and whose remit this would fall under? In addition does anyone know his/her email address?

I have been told that if I want to register my concern I must submit a general email under members enquiries format and "it will be passed on", most likely to the bin.

I feel that the non Ct members will be totally unaware of this issue. How do we inform these people of what is happening to their sites (or could be happening)

I do feel we are owed a more detailed and honest explanation from the powers on high.

You could write to the various caravanning and motor home magaziines and other web sites like Caravantalk, UK sites, Swift talk etc in order to 'spread the word'.......

I will actually send an email under the members enquiries format but it would help if every member who has concerns does the same. The weight of emails might actually at least get someone to come on here, even if its only to shut us up.

I would suggest going straight to Grenville Chamberlain. if you ask Rowena for his email address she surely can't refuse.

If you are going to the NEC, there is always a fairly senior Club official on the stand you can have a word with.

If no clear guidance/ information is forthcoming from Senior level at the Club, and let's face it, decisions/actions like this affect every single member and their families, then contacting Press and asking what is going on might just ensure that this reaches
a far wider membership and puts those who don't use CT in the picture.

But Senior Club involvement and response should be looked for before having to use external agencies to elicit a response.

In this day and age, all agencies need to make sure that they are as upfront and honest about decisions made on behalf of the people they represent. There is no hiding place nowadays given what is available on line and freely available, and I hope that the
Club does make members more aware of issues relating to sites, not only the good news but also any bad news.

A tiny sentence in the Club Mag doesn't do the loss of sites justice, and such closures need to be explained carefully so that members are not misinformed or jump to the wrong conclusions. Much Wenlock is much in my thoughts as I write this, but I suspect
that the vast majority of members will only find out when they visit the site for the last time this year.

Given that several members have openly stated on CT that they bin their magazines without even looking at them, even if the club published a more comprehensive explanation they would not see it.

Sorry to repeat this again but the Club totally underestimates the need for proper communication in detail to its members. We have had several instances since Club Together came to be where
inadequately detail explanations have been given for decisions made by the management of the Club. Instead we tend to get statements that A or B will happen without the detail and as a result members get annoyed and often go off at tangents because there
is a lack of proper information. Whilst this might make for good debating points on this forum it is very damaging to the image of the Club. This is perhaps the way the Club have always done things but times have changed and members are no longer willing to
accept this way of doing things. Perhaps it does need raising at one of the regional meeting or indeed the AGM.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a response from the club. I had experience of this 3 years ago when the club were losing the site at Braemar. as a seasonal site user for many years I was concerned by all the local rumours that the Invercauld estate were
taking the site back. I contacted the estate who confirmed in writing that they were taking the site back and that the club had known for some time. I then contacted the club because they had taken my money for the next season for a site they wouldn't have.
All they said was if I wasn't happy they would refund my money. A couple of days later I received a call from the club's estates manager who said they were still negotiating and this was how these things worked. This is why I am sceptical of anything the club
says. I would be very disappointed to lose Broadway as I travel down from the north of Scotland to stay there for my summer holidays every year.

PS Braemar site is even better now that it is an affiliated site.
