Snooper unit not recognised (Windows 8)

Has anyone using the CC Snooper sat nav had a message on their comp when trying to check on updates?

I returned my unit to Snooper 2 weeks ago when it froze and I could not perform an update (as recommened by Performance Products). When I connected it to my comp I received  .Device not compatable'.

I returned the unit to Performance Prod and receive it back last week and I tried to check for updates only to again get the same 'not recognised' message.

I have tried on 2 comps using XP and Windows 8.1.

I wonder how many of these units have been sold on the back of the CC approval and how many are working satisfactory?

(This current unit is only 9 months old)
