Route to Bunree from Yorks?

We only began caravanning last year and so we are newbies.

Having taken 11 trips so far we are planning to visit the Bunree site in July however having read several reports on here about the A82 I would appreciate any comments/recommendations as to this route or suggestions as to using the A85.

We then plan to visit Craigie Gardens in Ayr so any other comments/recommendations will be gratefully received.
