    Whereabouts on the Mediterranean?

Here are the weather records for
    Perpignan
, nearest to where we have a house, for April 2015 (and you can look back for previous years), and here are those for

    Six Four Les Plages
     further east along the Med.

From a different website here's the data for
    Nice

Both these sites are really useful for giving an overview, year on year, of temperatures.

    Thanks all.Perpignan looks very good.

W   Until the Tramontine arrives. We used to have an apartment at St Cyprien. Sold it because we couldn't stand the constant howling wind.

Ah yes the Tramontine - the cousin of the Mistral.  People often forget about that and It can blow for 2 - 5 days.  But if it is blowing in Perpignan you could  hitch up and go to N Spain, no need to book anytrhing in April.

That's just what we do a few years ago.  We were on our way south from Millau, where there were strong winds, and planned to stay by the Med.  The winds were even stronger there, so we headed over the Pyrenees into Spain, and stayed at L'Amfora on the Bay
of Roses, in just a gentle breeze!

We've experienced a variety of weather at Perpignan - almost every time we go - although we haven't been for a number of years now.  The coast always feels very open and so is prone to wind, in our opinion.  We have experienced some heavy hail storms there
too.  Perhaps we have been unlucky?  We've never ventured that far South, though, in April - we've always gone during July/ August.

For some complex met reason the immediate vicinity of Sete avoids both the Mistral and Tramontine.  Once went to Pont du Gard in late March and the Mistral was at full force - it was cold and horrible!  But then had lunch outside in Sete!

Yes, when we had the apartment we used to drive to Roses, Gerona or Barca on a regular basis.
